LOCKYER VALLEY CAMERA CLUB

About
The Mulgowie Camera Club began meeting in 2002 with a group of like-minded people interested in photography getting together and led by John and Ann Heseltine. John and Ann had moved to the area from the Sunshine Coast where they were members of a similar club for 5 years.
The Mulgowie Club started with 18 members and met at one of the member's farms. It was run as a not for profit social club with no Executive Committee. Much of the early photographic activities involved the use of film but gradually the digital camera took over.
The Club started to meet at each other's houses but this move saw a decline in club numbers as people had to travel greater distances to get to the meetings. In 2004 the club was offered meeting rooms at the present location in the Lutheran Church hall within the Laidley Township and so the move was made to Laidley and the club became known as the Laidley/Mulgowie Camera Club with approximately 8 members.
The club prospered with the inclusion of many new members and John and Ann were ably assisted by Cheryl Eggleton who had studied photography at Toowoomba TAFE. John and Ann retired from the club in late 2013 and Garry Watson was elected president. Garry selected an Executive Committee and the club began as a formally incorporated club and now functions as it does today.
In December 2015 the Club Committee under consultation with the members agreed to change the club’s name to the Lockyer Valley Camera Club in order to more fully represent its presence and purpose within the region.
The objectives of the Lockyer Valley Camera Club (LVCC) is to promote the art and science of photography in all of its various form. To provide the opportunity for association of its members for study and entertainment in matters relating to photography, and to conduct photographic, competitions, workshops and other activities to advance the knowledge, understanding and enjoyment of photography. The Club also endeavours to use its photographic resources, skills and knowledge to benefit the local community wherever possible.
